Matthijs Moerland (1980) studied Biomedical Sciences at Leiden University. After completion of his study, he was employed as scientific staff member at the department of Cell Biology of Erasmus University Rotterdam (2002-2006, Prof F.G. Grosveld). Here he obtained his PhD in the field of vascular biology, studying lipoprotein metabolism and atherogenesis in humanized animal models. In 2007 he joined CHDR as senior clinical scientist in the Vascular Medicine research group of Koos Burggraaf. His main field of expertise is the integration of immunology, endocrinology and endovascular reactivity in translational medicine.
